Cheerleading

Coach's Message

My name is Jolene McCall and I am the head coach for our Boiling Springs Middle School Cheerleading team. I also teach 6th 7th and 8th grade STEM at BSMS. I have several years of experience coaching youth cheerleaders and I am excited to teach your children.

Students can try out for Cheerleading in their 6th grade year for rising 7th graders as well as 7th graders moving on to 8th grade. So you can only cheer as a 7th or 8th grader. Our Cheerleading team cheers for both 7th and 8th grade Football teams as well as our Girls and Boys Basketball Teams.

We have a long season and our practices start soon after cheer tryouts. We practice hard 2 weeks before school starts in the summer. We also hold a Cheer Camp during the summer months to help them gain the necessary skills.

Our cheerleaders work hard at learning everything that is required of them to become a Bulldog Cheerleader. We have very high expectations for all of our cheerleaders. We expect all Cheerleaders to represent themselves, their team and their school very well on and off the field. I expect them to always lead by example and have good grades in order to remain on the team. I will monitor our student athletes from the beginning of the school year to the end of the season as it is my goal to first see them succeed in the classroom.

Teaching and coaching Cheerleading is my passion. Cheerleading can teach students many life skills that are important to learn and use later in their lives. Cheerleading can build self-confidence, teach leadership skills, help understand the importance of time management and punctuality, and show the importance of being a member of and working within a team.

Cheerleading takes dedication from all involved, and I am dedicated to helping our school and our team be the best that they can be.
